Garcelle Beauvais Extends Partnership with Lifetime for Three New Original Movies, Including Terry McMillan Presents

Lifetime is deepening its partnership with Garcelle Beauvais, announcing the production of three new original movies that Beauvais will executive produce. This collaboration marks a continuation of their successful work together, particularly highlighted by the acclaimed “Black Girl Missing” movie released last year. Beauvais starred in and executive produced this film, which garnered significant recognition including a Gracie and ASTRA Award from the Hollywood Critics Alliance for Best Television Movie. It also received nominations for prestigious awards such as an NAACP Image Award, a Black Reel Award, and a Rockie Award.

The new movies being developed under this expanded partnership will build upon the themes explored in “Black Girl Missing,” focusing on the systemic inequalities faced by missing girls and women of color, whose stories are often overlooked. These projects aim to continue vital conversations about representation and societal challenges.

In addition to her role as an executive producer, Beauvais will also take center stage in a forthcoming film under the Terry McMillan Presents banner. This movie, still untitled, will feature Beauvais as Ava, a renowned chef based in Europe. The storyline follows Ava as she rushes back to South Carolina to care for her elderly aunt after an accident. During her return journey, she encounters Luke, a charming driver significantly younger than her, and their unexpected connection forms the heart of the narrative.

Expressing her enthusiasm for this collaboration, Beauvais remarked, “I am so excited and grateful to continue my relationship with Lifetime because they immediately understood the importance of creating this new franchise with the ‘Black Girl Missing’ movies. Having a network that stands by you and supports your mission gives me hope in humanity.”

The Terry McMillan Presents movies, known for their focus on the love and lives of African American women, represent a significant addition to Lifetime’s lineup of original content. This project reflects the network’s commitment to diverse storytelling and meaningful narratives.

Production for these upcoming films will be handled by D’Angela Proctor for Undaunted Content in association with GroupM Motion Entertainment. Alongside Beauvais and McMillan, producers such as Richard Foster and Chet Fenster are on board to ensure the success of these projects. The script for the Terry McMillan Presents movie is penned by Tamara Gregory.

With these new endeavors, Lifetime and Garcelle Beauvais are poised to deliver compelling stories that resonate with audiences and continue to push boundaries in the entertainment industry.
