CBS has announced the renewal of its Freshman series “Elsbeth” for a second season. The decision to renew the series comes after just four episodes into its debut season, with the fifth episode scheduled to air on April 18th.
The series, which follows Elsbeth as she transitions from her role as a lawyer in Chicago to an investigator in New York, has been praised for its inventive storytelling and engaging characters. Alongside Preston, the show features Wendell Pierce and Carra Patterson in prominent roles, with a rotating cast of talented guest stars in each episode.

Created by Robert and Michelle King, the masterminds behind other hit series like “The Good Wife” and “The Good Fight,” “Elsbeth” has quickly captivated audiences with its unique blend of humor, storytelling, and the standout performance of Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni.

The decision to renew “Elsbeth” comes amidst a successful debut season, with the show averaging 11 million viewers per episode in Live+35 multiplatform viewing. Its performance has been particularly strong on linear platforms, with approximately 7.3 million viewers per episode.
The Kings, along with showrunner Jonathan Tolins and the talented writing team, have crafted an entertaining and engrossing world set in New York City. The success of “Elsbeth” adds to the Kings’ impressive track record of creating critically acclaimed series full of memorable characters.
