George Tillman Jr. to Direct Thriller Nanny Cam for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures

George Tillman Jr. has been tapped to direct Nanny Cam, a new thriller in the works at Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures. Based on a short story by Nelson Greaves (Unfriended, Your Friends and Neighbors), the film explores the chilling fallout of a simple night out gone terribly wrong.

Here’s the setup: A married couple, trying to reconnect amidst growing marital tension, heads out for a rare date night, leaving their kids in the care of a babysitter. But things take a dark turn when they check their nanny cam—and see a stranger inside their home. What follows is a high-stakes race to save their children and survive the night.

Tillman Jr., known for his work on The Hate U Give, Soul Food, Notorious, and Men of Honor, will direct and produce the film alongside longtime collaborator Bob Teitel under their State Street Pictures banner. This marks yet another entry in Tillman’s wide-ranging career that spans both film and TV—he’s also helmed episodes of Power, Luke Cage, This Is Us, and The Crossover.

Greaves, who’s penning the script, is no stranger to suspense. His writing credits include Unfriended, the upcoming Art Bell biopic starring Paul Giamatti, and TV projects like 24, See, Sleepy Hollow, and Invasion. He’s also the creator of the Dark Horse graphic novel The Carlyle School for Kings.

Nanny Cam joins a growing list of genre films with socially relevant themes and emotional stakes. For Tillman Jr., it’s another opportunity to bring complex characters and high-stakes storytelling to the screen—with a thriller twist.

No casting news or release timeline has been announced yet, but this one’s definitely on our radar.
