Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz Star as Mother and Daughter in Rom-Com ‘Otherwise Engaged’

Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz are set to star together for the first time in Otherwise Engaged, a romantic comedy directed by Suzanne Farwell, opposite Colin Firth and Jack Whitehall. Farwell co-wrote the script with Gabriel Mizrahi. The pairing is a natural one, with Berry and Kravitz sharing a Catwoman legacy, Berry having played the iconic DC character in 2004 and Kravitz bringing her to life in The Batman in 2022.

Kravitz plays Gabby, a woman whose dream wedding to Charlie, played by Whitehall, gets spectacularly complicated when his estranged father, a fallen business tycoon fresh out of prison played by Firth, arrives on their doorstep and promptly falls for her fiercely independent mother, played by Berry. Two love stories, one very inconvenient timeline.

Production is set to begin in March 2027 in New York. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales at the TIFF Market, with CAA Media Finance handling US rights. Susan Cartsonis and Farwell produce for Resonate Entertainment alongside Laura Rister for Esme Grace Pictures.

The film adds to an already loaded slate for Berry, who has nine projects in development through her production company HalleHolly, including The President Is Missing at Apple, the Peacock comedy Zero F’s and the HBO horror-drama The Patient. Kravitz meanwhile has David Leitch’s How to Rob a Bank at Amazon MGM and an untitled Megan Park film at Apple also in the pipeline.
