Hidden Pictures, in collaboration with the Harlem Globetrotters and Todd Lieberman, is gearing up to produce a Harlem Globetrotters documentary. Its aim is to highlight the team’s historic journey as they approach their centennial anniversary in 2026. Esteemed filmmaker Kenan Kamwana Holley, known for his work with ESPN Films and NFL Films, will helm the project.

Established in 1926 in Chicago, the Harlem Globetrotters made history as the first all-Black American basketball team. The documentary will delve into the team’s narrative of triumph over adversity, their role in promoting equity for people of color, and their groundbreaking efforts for women in the sport. Icons such as Wilt Chamberlain, Lynette Woodard, “Wee” Willie Gardner, Marques Haynes, Fred “Curly” Neal, and “Sweet Lou” Dunbar have graced the team over the decades.

Oscar and Emmy-winning producer Todd Lieberman, former NBA coach George Karl, filmmaker Kenan Kamwana Holley, Harlem Globetrotters President Keith Dawkins, and Bronwen O’Keefe will spearhead the production. This collaboration follows their recent work on the Amazon documentary series chronicling the rise and fall of the American Basketball Association.

Harlem Globetrotters President Keith Dawkins expressed excitement about the project, emphasizing the team’s enduring global appeal. Lieberman highlighted the team’s unique basketball style, captivating audiences for almost a century.
