Idris Elba to star and produce romance spy thriller.
Details of the movie, including its name are still under wraps. What we do know is that Travon Free penned the script that is described as a “spy movie with romance”. Also that the film is set in Africa.
Elba is teaming up with Simon Kinberg for the film, which after an intense bidding war, has landed at Apple. Kingberg and Audrey Chon, president of Kinberg’s Genre Films will also produce the thriller.

This past July Elba and his Green Door Pictures production company signed a first-look deal with Apple. Under the deal, Elba and Green Door would produce both series and features for Apple’s streaming platform, Apple TV Plus.
Ahead of this romance spy thriller, Elba is starring in and producing Concrete Cowboy. Ricky Staub directed the film which will premiere next month at the Toronto International Film Festival. He will also star in The Suicide Squad sequel which will be released summer 2021, as well as The Harder They Fall, which he will start production for it soon.
Kinberg who also has a first-look deal with Apple has an untitled tentpole sci-fi series in the works.

But in regards to this romance spy thriller, it is another spy movie under Kingberg’s belt. Kinberg wrote the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-led Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He also has an upcoming spy thriller 355 which is set to be released by Universal in Jan 2021. That film stars Lupita Nyong’o, Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger and Fan Bin Bing. He’s also producing Kenneth Branagh’s mystery thriller Death on the Nile.
