Since it was announced that there was a Clueless reboot TV series in the works last October there have been a few developments to this project.
For one while it had a network attached to it. However, its new home is on streaming platform Peacock, which is NBCU’s streamer. It also was also described as a mystery drama but now it is a mystery-comedy instead.
Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey are executive producing and writing the untitled Clueless reboot TV series.
The show’s description reads a baby pink and bisexual blue-tinted, tiny sun-glasses wearing, oat milk latte, and Adderall-fueled look at what happens when queen bee Cher disappears and her lifelong number two Dionne steps into Cher’s vacant Air Jordans. How does Dionne deal with the pressures of being the new most popular girl in school, while also unraveling the mystery of what happened to her best friend?

Corrinne Brinkerhoff, Scott Rudin, Robert Lawerence, Eli Bush, Tiffany Grant will also executive produce the Clueless reboot TV series. CBS Television Studios, who has retained the rights to the 1995 film, is the studio behind the untitled project.
The original film was loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel Emma and it chronicled life at a Beverly Hills high school with a satirical lens. It centered on Cher (Alicia Silverstone), a popular, rich, and superficial high schooler who gradually becomes a more empathetic person.
After the film, a comedy series by the same name premiered in 1996. That show ran on ABC and UPN for three-season. Stacey Dash portrayed Dionne in the 1995 Clueless feature, as well as the television series.

This isn’t the only Clueless reboot in the works.
There also is another Clueless feature in development at Paramount with Girls Trip writer Tracy Y. Oliver attached to pen the script. However, no updates on that project have come since 2018.
Also, Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon made headlines earlier this year when they both revealed they auditioned for the roles of Cher and Dionne. Maybe they can have a role in the feature film reboot if that happens.
