Jamie Foxx to Star in Action Thriller ‘Deadlocked’ for Amazon MGM and Prime Video

Jamie Foxx has found his next starring vehicle. Amazon MGM Studios has landed worldwide distribution rights to Deadlocked, an action thriller starring the Oscar winner, set to stream globally on Prime Video.

Directed by Nikhil Bhat, the Indian filmmaker behind the breakout Hindi-language action-thriller Kill, which sold to Lionsgate in a mid-seven figure deal after premiering at TIFF in 2024, Deadlocked follows a grieving former Marine serving jury duty who is forced back into action when the trial of the century turns into a deadly hostage situation. The defendant’s daughter seizes the courthouse in a desperate bid to free her father, and the former Marine must tap into his military training to survive.

The film stems from a script by Eric Scot Anderson and Matt Takejiro Bosack, based on their original idea. Producers include Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger for Range and Dave Caplan for C2, the companies that previously collaborated on Oz Perkins’ Longlegs and The Monkey, alongside Foxx for Foxxhole Productions. Bourscheid, Liz Destro, Paul Currie and Corinne Foxx serve as executive producers.

Foxx most recently starred in Back in Action, the 2025 action-comedy with Cameron Diaz that scored Netflix’s biggest English-language movie debut since 2022 with 46.8 million views in its first weekend. He will next return to Netflix with Fight for ’84, an Olympic boxing drama based on a true story. He also currently executive produces and hosts Beat Shazam on Fox.
