ALLBLK has set an official premiere date for D.O.P.E. Unit, the new crime drama series debuting Thursday, August 6, with new episodes airing weekly. The eight-episode first season comes from creator Thomas Walton and features an ensemble cast led by Johnell Young, Erica Peoples, Robert Ri’chard, Terayle Hill, Jhone Lucas, Supreme “Fre$h” Williams and Cornell Young IV.
When the Philadelphia police chief’s son is killed in a suspected drug deal gone wrong, he assigns an off-the-books elite undercover unit to investigate, disrupt and dismantle the city’s powerful criminal underworld, specifically targeting the dangerous Roth crime family. As the detectives push deeper into their undercover roles, the line between law enforcement and criminality begins to blur, testing loyalties on every side.
Young plays J’Von Dorsey, a flashy undercover detective with his sights set on bringing the Roth family down. Peoples plays Briana, the formidable head of the Roth family, while Ri’chard plays her brother Zeke Williams, a ruthless and unhinged killer. Hill rounds out the core cast as Detective Washington, a dedicated family man with deep street knowledge.
The cast also includes Trae Ireland, Casper Van Dien, Kristanna Loken, Jeff Fahey, Brandon Quintin Adams and Ariday.
Walton directed from a script he co-wrote with Damien Douglas, who also serves as showrunner and lead producer alongside Lux Angeles Studios. Executive producers include Matt Macur, Lenny Vitulli, Rebecca O’Hara, Brett Dismuke and Nikki Love.
