Jasmin Savoy Brown is back in action as Mindy Meeks-Martin, officially joining the growing cast of Scream 7. The fan-favorite character, introduced in Scream (2022), marks a significant milestone as the franchise’s first queer character.
Brown reunites with Mason Gooding, who plays her twin brother Chad Meeks-Martin. Together, the Meeks-Martin siblings continue to carry the legacy of their uncle, Randy Meeks, from the original Scream series. Both characters barely survived the harrowing events of Scream VI, with Mindy humorously breaking the fourth wall in a post-credit scene.
Filming for Scream 7 is underway in Atlanta, with Kevin Williamson, the screenwriter behind the original Scream, stepping into the director’s role for the first time. Neve Campbell returns as Sidney Prescott, joined by Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and Roger L. Jackson lending his iconic voice to Ghostface. Joel McHale has also been cast as Sidney’s husband, Mark Evans.
The new cast additions include Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Mckenna Grace (The Handmaid’s Tale), Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans), Asa Germann (The Boys), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), and Isabel May (1883), who plays Sidney’s daughter.
While plot details remain tightly under wraps, Scream 7 promises to bring the spotlight back to Sidney Prescott and her family. The long-running horror franchise, which debuted in 1996 under the direction of Wes Craven, has grossed over $900 million worldwide, with Scream VI setting a franchise record for domestic box office revenue at $108 million.
Brown’s return comes as her career continues to thrive. She recently launched the daily podcast Today in Gay, designed for the queer community, and will appear in the third season of Showtime’s Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets.
Scream 7 will hit theaters on February 27, 2026, distributed by Paramount Pictures and produced by Spyglass Media Group. With a mix of legacy characters and fresh faces, the franchise looks set to deliver another chilling and thrilling chapter.
