Set against the background of the Civil War, the four-part series features insights from a diverse range of journalists, educators and Lincoln scholars, as well as rare archival materials, that offer a more nuanced look into the man dubbed the Great Emancipator. The docuseries promises give a “voice to the narratives of enslaved people, shaping a more complete view of an America divided over issues including the economy, race, and humanity.”

Jeffrey Wright will narrate the series while Leslie Odom, Jr. will portray Frederick Douglass. Bill Camp has also been cast as Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States.

The series is designed to be a nuanced look into not only Lincoln but the narratives of enslaved people.
