Jessie T. Usher has lined up his next feature project as Amazon Prime Video’s superhero series The Boys continues its final stretch.
Usher has officially joined the cast of The Avoidant, a psychological thriller marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Rex Bressler. The film is set to begin production in mid-May in Los Angeles.
The project boasts a stacked ensemble cast, including Adam Goldberg, Robin Tunney, and Usher himself, alongside Ian Ousley, Carmela Zumbado, Brenna D’Amico, and Joely Fisher. Additional cast members include Cedric Gegel, TJ Minor, Daria Rae Berenato, and Sibongile Mlambo.
The Avoidant is described as a psychological thriller exploring grief, suicide, and the emotional cost of avoiding difficult decisions. Plot details remain tightly under wraps.
The film is being produced by Matt Luber and Brian Yuran, with casting led by Jeremy O’Keefe, CSA, and associate Vitória Silvestre.
While Usher continues his run on one of television’s most culturally dominant series, The Boys, this new role signals a continued expansion into darker, more dramatic feature work as he balances TV stardom with film ambitions.
