Jocko Sims Joins Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Reboot

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie reboot continues to expand its ensemble, adding Jocko Sims (New Amsterdam) to the mix.

Sims joins the cast alongside Warren Christie (The Watchful Eye), Wren Zhawenim Gotts (Echo), Meegwun Fairbrother (Avatar, The Sticky), and Alyssa Wapanatâhk (Peter Pan & Wendy) as series regulars, with Xander Cole (People of the West) appearing in a recurring role. They’ll join the previously announced Ingalls family: Alice Halsey as Laura, Luke Bracey as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary.

Based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic semi-autobiographical novels, the original Little House on the Prairie premiered in 1974 and ran for nine seasons on NBC. The series followed the Ingalls family as they built their lives on the American frontier, weaving tales of perseverance, faith, and family bonds. Michael Landon and Melissa Gilbert led the cast, cementing the show as a beloved staple of American television.

Sims will play Dr. George Tann, a real-life physician known for his warmth and life-saving work in the Osage Diminished Reserve — a story that will intertwine with the series’ themes of survival and community.

In the reboot, Christie takes on the role of John Edwards, a charismatic Civil War veteran who turns heads wherever he goes. The character, known as Dr. Edwards in the original books, was later reimagined as Isaiah Edwards (played by Victor French) in the NBC series.

Fairbrother portrays Mitchell, a tender-hearted Kansas farmer whose home is the grandest in the county. His wife White Sun, played by Wapanatâhk, brings humor and a sharper worldview to their household. Gotts steps in as their daughter Good Eagle, an imaginative storyteller, while Cole rounds out the family as Little Puma, White Sun’s younger brother who’s stubborn, kind-hearted, and eager to find his place in the world.

The series is described as part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West. It’s helmed by showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine and CBS Studios, with Joy Gorman Wettels, Trip Friendly, Dana Fox, and Susanna Fogel executive producing alongside Sonnenshine. Sarah Adina Smith will direct the first episode, with filming set to begin in June in Winnipeg, Canada.

For Sims, this marks a return to medical roles after his fan-favorite turn as Dr. Floyd Reynolds on NBC’s New Amsterdam. He also appears in the comedic murder mystery Grosse Pointe Garden Society.

Stay tuned as this reboot blends nostalgia with new voices and fresh perspectives, breathing new life into a frontier saga that has long held a place in American hearts.
