The first trailer for the upcoming epic sci-fi action thriller, The Creator (previously known as True Love), starring John David Washington, has been revealed by 20th Century Studios, New Regency, and Entertainment One. The movie is set to hit theaters on September 29th.

The film is set in a future world where humans are at war with advanced artificial intelligence, and follows the story of Joshua, played by Washington, a former special forces agent who is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the mysterious architect behind the advanced AI. Joshua’s wife, played by Gemma Chan, has disappeared, and he is consumed with grief. Together with his team of elite operatives, Joshua embarks on a perilous journey across enemy lines to destroy a world-ending weapon created by the Creator, only to discover that it is in the form of a young child.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film’s cast also includes Ken Watanabe, Sturgill Simpson, newcomer Madeleine Yuna Voyles, and Academy Award winner Allison Janney. Edwards and Chris Weitz wrote the script, based on a story by Edwards.

The producers of The Creator are Edwards, Kiri Hart, Jim Spencer, and Arnon Milchan, with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Natalie Lehmann, Nick Meyer, and Zev Foreman as executive producers.
The movie is expected to face stiff competition at the box office on its opening weekend from a yet-to-be-named Universal title and the indie film Abandonment with Richard Dreyfuss, along with major titles such as Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls, Sony’s The Book of Clarence, and Lionsgate’s The Expendables 4, which are all set to open on September 22nd. Additionally, Paramount’s PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and a re-release of Howl’s Moving Castle are scheduled for September 23rd.
