Michael B. Jordan brought style, spectacle, and a touch of nostalgia to CinemaCon, unveiling the first look at his reimagining of The Thomas Crown Affair—and confirming that Jon Batiste will compose the film’s score.
Batiste helped set the tone with a live piano performance of The Windmills of Your Mind, the Oscar-winning track from the 1968 original, bridging the legacy of the franchise with Jordan’s modern take.
Jordan, who directs and stars, was joined by Adria Arjona, who plays an insurance investigator capable of matching wits with his suave art thief. Their dynamic continues the franchise’s signature mix of romance and rivalry, first defined by Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, and later Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
The footage teased a globe-spanning thriller filled with museum heists, European backdrops, and high-flying stunts, with Jordan emphasizing a more personal motivation for his version of Crown. Opposite him, Kenneth Branagh plays a powerful figure tied to that mission.
The ensemble cast also includes Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Kenneth Branagh, Pilou Asbæk, and Aiysha Hart.
Behind the camera, the film is directed by Michael B. Jordan with a screenplay by Drew Pearce, based on The Thomas Crown Affair by Alan R. Trustman. Producers include Jordan, Patrick McCormick, Marc Toberoff, and Charles Roven.
The film also brings together a standout creative team: cinematography by Bradford Young, music by Jon Batiste, and costumes designed by Ruth E. Carter—marking a notable reunion between Carter and Jordan following their previous collaborations.
With its mix of legacy, luxury, and layered storytelling, The Thomas Crown Affair is set to hit theaters on March 5, 2027.
