There is a high chance, Jonathan Majors next role will be portraying Dennis Rodman in 48 Hours in Vegas. According to Deadline, the Harder They Fall star is in early talks to play NBA legend Dennis Rodman aka “The Worm” — Rodman is on board as executive producer.

According to Deadline, “while a deal isn’t closed, sources say Majors is very much on board and negotiations are headed in the right direction.”

Jordan VanDina is penning 48 Hours in Vegas which is not exactly a biopic about Rodman’s life. Rather, it focuses specifically on one two-day period in Sin City during the 1998 NBA Finals. The movie explores the budding friendship between Rodman and his skittish assistant GM that “neither one of them ever thought was possible but will end up solving both of their problems.”

The true story was recently highlighted in the hit Chicago Bulls docuseries The Last Dance. The incident was spoken in depth in the doc, with everyone from Jordan to coach Phil Jackson to supermodel Carmen Electra talking about what went down as Rodman took the trip all while the Bulls were trying to complete its second three-peat championship run.

A director is not attached to the project which Lionsgate won the rights to the spec in a highly competitive auction.

“There’s only one Dennis Rodman,” Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group President, Nathan Kahane, said in a statement when the film was announced last year. “In 1998, there was nobody on Earth who’d be more fun – or maybe more dangerous – to party with. And yet that’s not even half of who he is. This movie takes you on an unforgettable ride with the myth, the legend, and also the man that Dennis is, behind everything you think you know.”

Up next Majors is starring as U.S. Navy fighter pilot, Jesse Brown in the war film, Devotion. He also will make his film debut as Kang The Conqueror in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (He first debut the character in the season finale of Loki). The movie will be in theaters February 17, 2023. The next month, Majors will also co-star in Creed III as Adonis Creed’s ring nemesis. The highly anticipated release is slated for March 3, 2023.
