Don Cheadle’s six-episode Disney series Armor Wars is being turned into a feature film.
The series which was first announced during Disney Investor Day in December 2020 sees Cheadle reprising his MCU role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine.
Armor Wars is based on Marvel Comics’ seven-issue arc of the same name within the story of Iron Man. It was written by David Michelinie and Bob Layton with art by Mark Bright and titled, The Star Wars, and follows Rhodes as he must face what happens when Tony Stark’s tech falls into the wrong hands.

There are no other details on the actual film but based on the comic books, villains that could potentially appear in Armor Wars include Stilt-Man, the Crimson Dynamo and Justin Hammer, who was played by Sam Rockwell in Iron Man 2.
Yassir Lester, who was on board for the series, will continue on with writing the movie. There is no director attached at this time, and no word when the movie will be released in the 2023-2025 Marvel Cinematic Universe continuum.
At the D23 Expo in Anaheim earlier this month, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige stated that “Armor Wars” would follow the events of “Secret Invasion,” the MCU TV series set to debut in early 2023 on Disney+, in which Cheadle’s Rhodes will also appear.
