Jonathan Majors to Lead Supernatural Revenge Thriller ‘Merciless’

Jonathan Majors to Lead Supernatural Revenge Thriller "Merciless" Directed by Martin Villeneuve

Jonathan Majors is set to lead the cast of the upcoming revenge thriller “Merciless,” as exclusively reported by Deadline. The film is based on an original screenplay by Frank Hannah and will be directed by Martin Villeneuve, known for his sci-fi film “Mars et Avril.”

“Merciless” follows the story of a top CIA interrogator who must confront a malevolent force after the woman he loves is overtaken by it. This dark journey forces him to go to extreme lengths to defeat the evil. The film marks Majors’ first role since his misdemeanor case for third-degree assault and harassment earlier this year. Production is scheduled to begin in Saskatchewan in late Fall 2024.

“‘Merciless’ intertwines themes of possession, revenge, and personal justice within a haunting narrative. It explores the psychological descent of ‘John,’ played by Majors, and the supernatural forces challenging his sanity,” says Martin Villeneuve.

The project has been developed by producer Christopher Tuffin, who will soon unveil his new global media venture at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Tuffin describes this new venture as disruptive and dedicated to ensuring that great art and artists are not undermined by public opinion and selective prosecution.

Tuffin was a key figure behind the success of “Sound of Freedom,” which grossed over $250 million worldwide last summer. He expressed his commitment to working with Majors, calling him a great talent.

“Merciless” will be produced by Tuffin, Kevin Townsend, and Kevin DeWalt, with executive producers Amanda Delaplaine, Chris Ochs, Andrew Bates, and Ben DeWalt.
