Succession alum and Tony Award nominee Juliana Canfield has been tapped to star opposite Brandon Sklenar in F.A.S.T., an upcoming action thriller from Warner Bros. set for theatrical release on April 23, 2027.
Plot and character details remain tightly under wraps, but the film follows a former special forces operative who is recruited by the DEA to lead a covert strike team targeting CIA-protected drug traffickers. Sklenar, who recently starred in Drop and appeared in Taylor Sheridan’s 1923, leads the cast in a role that brings him back into Sheridan’s action-focused orbit.
The script for F.A.S.T. was written by Sheridan prior to his current overall deal with Paramount. Paramount granted him permission to render services for this Warner Bros. project during his exclusive window. The film marks the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Ben Richardson (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Mare of Easttown), who also previously collaborated with Sheridan on 1923.
Producing are David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Barbie), along with Sheridan and Jenny Wood of Bosque Ranch Productions. Warner Bros. Pictures President of Production Jesse Ehrman and EVP of Production Kevin McCormick are overseeing the film.
Canfield’s casting continues her momentum following a standout Broadway run in Stereophonic, which earned her a 2024 Tony Award nomination. She’s best known for her role as Jess Jordan, Kendall Roy’s no-nonsense assistant, on HBO’s Succession, where she was twice honored with a SAG Award as part of the ensemble. Her television credits also include roles in FX’s Y: The Last Man, American Horror Story, and Peacock’s The Calling from David E. Kelley.
On the film side, Canfield made her feature debut in The Assistant, starring alongside Julia Garner and Michael Stuhlbarg. She also appeared in the Oscar-winning short The Neighbors’ Window. A graduate of Yale’s MFA program, Canfield is represented by CAA and Brookside Artist Management.
With F.A.S.T., Warner Bros. is betting on a high-stakes, high-impact story from one of TV’s most prolific creators—and a rising star pairing that blends prestige with adrenaline.
