Dinosaurs may be old news to the world, but in Jurassic World: Rebirth, the danger is far from extinct. Universal just dropped the first trailer for the next chapter in the blockbuster franchise, and it’s bringing high-stakes action, prehistoric terror, and a team bold (or reckless) enough to venture where no one else dares.
Directed by Rogue One and The Creator helmer Gareth Edwards, the film is set five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion and takes the prehistoric chaos to new heights—literally, with land, sea, and air creatures all in play.
Led by Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonathan Bailey, Rebirth follows a covert team tasked with retrieving genetic material from three of the most powerful dinosaurs left on Earth. But as Ali’s character, Duncan Kincaid, warns, “No one’s dumb enough to go where we’re going.” And based on the trailer’s pulse-pounding footage, he might just be right.
When the mission goes south, the team find themselves stranded alongside a civilian family with nowhere to run. And as the trailer teases, the island they’re marooned on is hiding secrets that could rewrite history.
Joining the trio of leads are Bechir Sylvain, Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, and Ed Skrein. Longtime franchise producers Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley return, with Steven Spielberg executive producing.
The first look at Rebirth doesn’t hold back on the franchise’s signature thrills. The trailer teases massive dinosaurs, high-stakes action, and a deep dive into the ethical dilemmas of genetic manipulation—all while delivering jaw-dropping visuals. With humanity now accustomed to dinosaurs roaming certain environments, the film flips the script: these creatures, once the apex predators, are now isolated, their numbers dwindling. But the three that remain could hold the key to a revolutionary medical breakthrough, making them the target of powerful forces—including a Big Pharma exec played by Rupert Friend, who clearly has his own agenda.
Produced by longtime franchise figures Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley, with Steven Spielberg on board as an executive producer, Jurassic World: Rebirth marks a fresh chapter for the billion-dollar franchise. Whether it will outdo its predecessors remains to be seen, but if this trailer is any indication, audiences are in for an adrenaline-fueled ride when the film stomps into theaters on July 2, 2025.
