Lifetime has announced its upcoming original movie, ‘He Slid Into Her DMs,’ starring Courtney Thorne-Smith, Stella Gregg, and Kane Parks. Inspired by a true story, the thriller explores the dark side of social media fame and its potential to incite real-world violence. Directed by Alicia Coppola, this gripping film is set to premiere on Saturday, September 28, at 8/7c as part of Lifetime’s fall Ripped from the Headlines movie slate.
The plot centers around 17-year-old Berni, played by Stella Gregg, a popular social media influencer whose seemingly perfect life is a façade. Despite her online success, Berni’s real life is in turmoil. She faces betrayal from her best friend, the pressure to gain more followers to support her single mother financially, and a breakup with her boyfriend Zak, portrayed by Kane Parks, due to her obsession with her phone.
As Berni attempts to reconcile with Zak, she befriends Mason, an online fan, and sells him private photos. The situation takes a deadly turn when Mason shows up at her doorstep, leading her mother Leah, played by Courtney Thorne-Smith, to make a tragic decision that shatters Berni’s public image.
‘He Slid Into Her DMs’ is produced by Cartel Pictures, with Stan Spry and Eric Woods serving as executive producers. The screenplay is written by Erica Lane, Christina Kelly Holmes, and Lydia Genner.
