Kelvin Harrison Jr. steps into a brand-new lane with The Disappear, making his professional theatrical stage debut at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre.
The play centers on a celebrated filmmaker and his novelist wife whose seemingly perfect marriage begins to fracture under ambition, ego, and an industry obsessed with youth and relevance. Harrison plays Raf Night, a magnetic movie star whose arrival destabilizes everything — a role that pushed him to confront comedy, vulnerability, and what it means to truly take up space on stage.

Harrison also reflects on a meaningful moment in his career — working in close orbit with Jeffrey Wright, from stepping into a role tied to Wright’s legacy in The Hunger Games: The Sunrise Reaping to their shared connection on Basquiat for Samo Lives!.
From impostor syndrome to rediscovering joy in the craft, this is an honest, thoughtful look at an actor navigating growth, alignment, and a season of firsts — live on stage.
The Disappear is written and directed by Erica Schmidt and is currently running at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre, with plans to be released globally as an Audible Original.
