“Horizon: An American Saga,” co-written by Costner and Jon Baird, unfolds as the second chapter of a multi-faceted chronicle spanning 15 years of the pre- and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. Embracing the tradition of classic Westerns, the film explores the allure of the old West, guiding audiences through a treacherous journey across a nation at war with itself. The narrative is skillfully presented through the perspectives of families, friends, and foes, offering a poignant exploration of what it truly means to be the United States of America.

The project marks Kevin Costner’s return to a familiar setting, reminiscent of his directorial debut in “Dances with Wolves,” which achieved significant success, grossing over $424 million worldwide and earning seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Director.

Produced by Costner’s Territory Pictures, the film boasts a seasoned production team, including director of photography J. Michael Muro, production designer Derek R. Hill, editor Miklos Wright, and costume designer Lisa Lovaas, who all contributed to the success of the series’ first installment.

Warner Bros. Pictures will handle the U.S. distribution of “Horizon: An American Saga,” with New Line Cinema presenting this Territory Pictures production. The film brings Costner back behind the camera after almost two decades since his last directorial endeavor, “Open Range” in 2003.

As anticipation builds for this cinematic journey, “Horizon: An American Saga” promises to captivate audiences with its rich storytelling and visually stunning portrayal of a pivotal period in American history.
