Larenz Tate is becoming a much bigger part of the Power-sphere.
Before the Power alum fronts his own spin-off, Power Book V: Influence, he’s set to serve as a series regular on season 2 of Power Book II: Ghost.
Larenz Tate first made his debut as Councilman Rashad Tate in season four of Power and became a primary adversary for James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) in the show’s final two seasons.
He then reprised his role in two episodes of season 1 of Power Book II, where following his loss for the NYC’s governor’s office, Rashad Tate refuses to feel sorry for himself. His older brother Kamaal (Lahmard J. Tate) pushes Rashad to stop waiting for things to happen and to use his influence to take action, which ends up leading to unexpected places. Unsatisfied with just a taste of power, the councilman will have to decide what he’s willing to sacrifice for a place at the table.
Season 2 of Power Book II reads as “Forced into the choice to take the life of his professor, Jabari Reynolds, Tariq finds himself drifting further from that which he’s been fighting to protect: his family. With Tasha in witness protection, Tariq knows he must sacrifice anything to save what’s left of his family. Unable to do it alone, he turns to those wielding power and influence: Davis MacLean and his new partner, Cooper Saxe, as well as Rashad Tate. All of these options come with a steep price, so it’s back to business with the Tejadas. However, with two murders involving Stansfield, Monet Tejada has to question if Tariq is what’s best for her family as she seeks to protect her nephew’s professional basketball prospects at all costs.”
Lionsgate Televsion produces Power Book II. Franchise creator Courtney A. Kemp executive produces via her End of Episode banner along with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (via his G-Unit Film and Television); Mark Canton of Atmosphere Entertainment MM; End of Episode’s Chris Selak, Shana Stein and Bart Wenrich; and Brett Mahoney and Danielle De Jesus.
Power Book II: Ghost returns Nov. 21 to Starz.
