Lennie James is stepping into the gritty world of Mayor of Kingstown as he joins the Paramount+ drama for its upcoming fourth season. The Walking Dead alum will be joined by The Sopranos Emmy winner Edie Falco and Broadway’s Laura Benanti in the latest round of high-profile cast additions to the Taylor Sheridan-created series, which stars Jeremy Renner.
Mayor of Kingstown, co-created by Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where incarceration is the only thriving industry. The intense drama has been a signature series for Paramount+, with Renner leading the cast as fixer Mike McLusky since its 2021 debut.
James takes on the role of Frank Moses in a season-long arc, a legendary gangster whose influence extends from Detroit to the entire state of Michigan and beyond. Falco joins as series regular, Nina Hobbs, the new warden of Anchor Bay prison, while Benanti portrays Cindy Stephens, a correctional officer recently assigned to Kingstown.
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions, the series boasts an extensive executive production team, including Sheridan, Dillon, Renner, Antoine Fuqua, and Dave Erickson.
James, best known for his long-running portrayal of Morgan Jones in The Walking Dead universe, recently led and executive produced the BBC limited series Mr. Loverman. He also starred in a West End production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opposite Daisy Edgar-Jones and lent his voice to Disney’s upcoming Mufasa: The Lion King.
Falco, the first actress to win a Best Actress Emmy in both drama (The Sopranos) and comedy (Nurse Jackie), was last seen in Avatar: The Way of Water and will next appear alongside Brian Cox in The Parenting. Benanti, a Tony winner, has been seen in The Gilded Age and Elsbeth and currently has her comedy special Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares streaming on Audible.
With an ever-evolving cast and a reputation for unexpected twists, Mayor of Kingstown season 4 is shaping up to be another high-stakes chapter in the series. Seasons 1-3 are currently available to stream on Paramount+.
