Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for “IF,” a film directed and written by John Krasinski. Scheduled for release on May 17, 2024, the movie centers around a girl who can see everyone’s imaginary friends and sets out on a journey to reconnect these forgotten friends with their kids.

The abbreviation “IF” stands for “Imaginary Friends,” and the cast includes Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Matt Damon, Maya Rudolph, and Steve Carell.

In the trailer, an ominous scene unfolds as Ryan Reynolds’ character attempts to shield Cailey Fleming’s character from witnessing a colossal purple monster (voiced by Steve Carell) emerging from a closet. As the narrative unfolds, it becomes clear that the protagonist possesses the extraordinary ability to see everyone’s imaginary friends and decides to embark on a magical adventure to reunite forgotten IFs with their respective kids.

The voice cast is rounded out by a stellar lineup, including Fiona Shaw, Emily Blunt, Jon Stewart, Bobby Moynihan, Sam Rockwell, Sebastian Maniscalco, Christopher Meloni, Richard Jenkins, and Awkwafina.

The reunion of John Krasinski and Steve Carell, known for their chemistry in “The Office,” adds an extra layer of excitement to “IF.” This marks their first collaboration since the beloved series concluded in 2013.

Produced by Krasinski’s company, Sunday Night, alongside Reynolds and his banner, Maximum Effort, the film promises to be a kid-friendly creature feature. Allyson Seeger and Andrew Form also join as producers.
