The newly released trailer for Kung Fu Panda 4 unveils Viola Davis as Po’s latest nemesis, the sorceress Chameleon. Voiced by Davis, Chameleon is a tiny lizard with the ability to shapeshift into any creature, and she’s on a mission to seize Po’s Staff of Wisdom. This artifact holds the power to re-summon all the master villains Po has previously defeated to the spirit realm, setting the stage for an epic showdown.

The Kung Fu Panda franchise, led by Jack Black’s iconic portrayal of Po, the Dragon Warrior, has been a global box-office sensation, amassing over $1.8 billion in earnings since the release of the Oscar-nominated Kung Fu Panda in 2008. The series, known for its winning combination of humor, martial arts action, and heartwarming storytelling, has maintained its popularity, with the last installment, Kung Fu Panda 3, hitting theaters in 2016.

In this highly anticipated adventure, Po not only grapples with his newfound role as the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace but also faces the formidable threat posed by Chameleon. The trailer introduces new characters, including Zhen, a quick-witted fox voiced by Awkwafina, and Han, the leader of the Den of Thieves, portrayed by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan.

Returning voice cast members include Dustin Hoffman as Kung Fu master Shifu, James Hong as Po’s adoptive father Mr. Ping, Bryan Cranston as Po’s birth father Li, and Ian McShane as Tai Lung, Shifu’s former student and nemesis.

Directed by Mike Mitchell, known for his work on Trolls and Shrek Forever After, Kung Fu Panda 4 is poised to deliver another thrilling chapter in the beloved franchise. With the combination of established fan-favorite characters and the introduction of new elements, including Viola Davis as the formidable Chameleon, the film is set to continue the legacy of success that has defined the Kung Fu Panda series for over a decade.
