Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop for eight new episodes, premiering October 23 on Netflix, with a shocking twist suggesting he may not be the only Lupin out there.
Netflix has released the trailer for Lupin Part 4, and it opens with a line designed to throw longtime fans for a loop: “We have a new Lupin.”
The teaser finds Assane Diop (Omar Sy) locked away in a glass box, while another figure claiming the Lupin mantle appears to be operating freely, sending police scrambling to identify them. Amid the confusion, familiar footage shows Assane slipping into his usual disguises and sowing chaos along the way, leaving open the question of just how much of what’s unfolding is really his doing.
The new season picks up four years after the end of Part 3, which left Assane behind bars after he turned himself in to protect his wife, son, mother, and best friend, having previously stolen the Black Pearl, won over the French public, and faked his own death to save his estranged mother. As Part 4 begins, Assane intends to serve out his sentence quietly and eventually honor a promise to his son to visit family in Senegal. Those plans unravel when a mysterious announcement, signed by Lupin, reveals that multiple museums are about to be hit in a series of coordinated heists.
Sy returns alongside Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Antoine Gouy as Benjamin, Soufiane Guerrab as Guedira, and Shirine Boutella as Belkacem. Joining the cast for the new season are Théo Christine (Supacell, Skam France) and Laïka Blanc-Francard (The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon), though details on their characters remain under wraps.
George Kay returns as creator, working alongside François Uzan, with Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine also credited. Sy and Louis Leterrier serve as co-showrunners, with Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout, and Hugo Gélin directing the season. Writers include Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Rosine, and Meyer.
The series is produced by Gaumont in partnership with Carrousel Studios, the production banner Sy launched with Leterrier and Thomas Benski.
Since its 2021 debut, Lupin has become one of Netflix’s most-watched international series, with Parts 1 and 2 ranking among the platform’s top 10 non-English-language shows of all time. Inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s classic literary character Arsène Lupin, the series has helped establish Sy as one of the streamer’s most bankable global stars.
