Get ready to see Marlon Wayans like you’ve never seen him before—because he’s diving into the world of sports horror in Him, the latest psychological thriller from Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions. Forget the comedy you’re used to; this one’s a whole new ballgame.

The highly anticipated film, which hits theaters on September 19, 2025, has just dropped its official teaser poster, and it’s got everyone talking. Featuring a football encased in glass, blood dripping down its pristine leather, the poster’s ominous design sets the tone for a movie that promises to challenge the limits of both sports and horror.

This is not your average underdog sports flick. Directed by Justin Tipping, Him explores the dark side of fame, power, and the relentless pursuit of greatness.

HIM stars former college wide-receiver Tyriq Withers as Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma.

Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for.

The first teaser trailer is nothing short of intense. The footage opens with the roar of a football stadium, but quickly takes a turn into the supernatural. A helmet-to-helmet collision sets off a series of disturbing, quick cuts—sweating bodies, blood, ominous goat imagery, and strange, almost cult-like rituals. “What are you willing to sacrifice?” Wayans’ character taunts, setting the tone for the eerie descent that follows.

Wayans and Withers are joined a cast, including Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, Jim Jefferies, and Grammy-nominated Tierra Whack, who make their big-screen debuts.

Wayans  known for his comedic chops is embracing a much darker, more intense role as the legendary quarterback whose success comes at a steep price. The question on everyone’s mind is, what lengths will these characters go to for greatness? The tagline on the poster, “Greatness demands sacrifice,” seems to be hinting at some unsettling answers.

As we count down to its release, Him is shaping up to be a genre-defying film that blends the raw intensity of sports with the nerve-wracking suspense of horror. This is a film that promises to burrow under your skin and leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about ambition, fame, and sacrifice.

If the teaser’s anything to go by, this film is sure to set a new bar for horror fans and sports enthusiasts alike. Get ready to feel the sweat, the blood, and the chills when Him kicks off in theaters this fall.

Stay tuned for more updates and, of course, the full trailer coming soon. You won’t want to miss this one.
