Continuing the narrative established in her previous Lifetime films, Real Love and Strength of a Woman, Family Affair sees the return of Ajiona Alexus and Da’Vinchi in their lead roles, providing a sense of continuity to the evolving storyline. The film’s official logline reveals a compelling tale of love and family dynamics: “Kendra and Ben move out of the city in hopes of finally building a life together. However, with their families involved and tensions rising over fertility issues, Kendra must navigate her relationship with Ben’s son, Miles. As conflicts escalate—especially when Ben secretly helps his brother—Kendra finds herself drawn back to the city and an old friend. Ultimately, the family must unite to help Kendra and Ben preserve their relationship and stay true to their real love.”

Produced under Blige’s Blue Butterfly banner, Family Affair will also benefit from the expertise of executive producers Jordan Davis and John Davis from Davis Entertainment, who were instrumental in the success of Real Love and Strength of a Woman. Additional executive producers include Bruce Miller and Milana Edwards-Brooks from Blue Butterfly, along with Alexus and Da’Vinchi themselves. The film is produced by Front Street Pictures, with Troy Scott directing a script written by Rachel Ingram.

Production for Family Affair is set to kick off this month, following the successful reception of Blige’s previous Lifetime projects, including her executive role in the acclaimed film The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel and her portrayal of Dr. Betty Shabazz in Betty & Coretta.

Through this latest venture, Mary J. Blige continues to blend her musical legacy with captivating storytelling, reinforcing her significant impact on the entertainment industry. She is represented by Independent Artist Group, Dina LaPolt, and Lede.
