Netflix has recently dropped the trailer for its upcoming crime thriller, “Mea Culpa,” directed and written by Perry. Scheduled for release on February 23rd, the film features an ensemble led by Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes.
The story revolves around Mea Harper (Kelly Rowland), a criminal defense attorney, who takes on the challenging murder case of Zyair Malloy (Trevante Rhodes), an artist accused of killing his girlfriend. As Mea delves into the case, the plot thickens, and she finds herself entangled in a world that is both hot and dangerous.
The trailer offers a glimpse into the steamy and suspenseful atmosphere of “Mea Culpa,” where the lines between attorney and client blur as romantic entanglements unfold. The cast also includes Sean Sagar, Nick Sagar, RonReaco Lee, and Shannon Thornton.

Joining forces with Perry as producers are Dianne Ashford, Will Areu, Angi Bones, and Rowland.
This marks Tyler Perry’s fifth collaboration with Netflix, following the success of “Six Triple Eight,” “A Fall from Grace,” “A Madea Homecoming,” “A Jazzman’s Blues,” and his participation in the ensemble cast of Adam McKay’s “Don’t Look Up.”
“Mea Culpa” comes on the heels of Perry’s multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, signed after the announcement of the film last year. This deal signifies a commitment to producing more engaging content for the streaming giant, with Perry set to write, direct, and produce additional features.
