Melanie Liburd has landed a leading role in the upcoming fourth installment of Columbia Picture’s Bad Boys franchise, which is currently in production. The movie, which reunites stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence with their Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, remains untitled as of now, but sources have confirmed that Liburd will play the character of Christine.

The Bad Boys franchise, which follows the adventures of two Miami detectives, Mike Lowrey (played by Smith) and Marcus Burnett (played by Lawrence), has been a commercial success, grossing over $840 million across three films. The third film alone earned $426 million, making it the highest-grossing movie of the franchise. The franchise debuted with the first Bad Boys film in 1995, followed by Bad Boys II in 2003, and then a long-awaited third installment, Bad Boys For Life, in 2020.
Apart from Smith and Lawrence, the upcoming film also stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane, and now, Melanie Liburd. The script for the movie was penned by Chris Bremner, and the film is being produced by a team consisting of Smith, Jerry Bruckheimer, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman. The executive producers include Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone.

Melanie Liburd’s inclusion in the cast is a significant credit on her growing resume, which includes major roles in the third season of This Is Us, the first and second seasons of Power Book II: Ghost, and a recurring role in The Wknd’s HBO series The Idol, which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. She also stars alongside Alicia Silverstone in the horror film Perpetrator, which premiered in Berlin in February. Her previous credits include appearances in Game of Thrones, the Netflix series Gypsy, and Syfy’s Dark Matter.
Fans of the Bad Boys franchise can look forward to the latest installment, which promises to deliver the same action-packed, buddy-cop adventure that the previous films are known for. With a star-studded cast and experienced filmmakers at the helm, the fourth Bad Boys movie is expected to continue the franchise’s legacy of commercial success.
