The stage musical adaptation of the popular 1992 film ‘Death Becomes Her’ is making its way to Broadway after a successful run in Chicago. Michelle Williams, along with Megan Hilty, Jennifer Simard, and Christopher Sieber, will reprise their roles for the Broadway production
Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, ‘Death Becomes Her’ will begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, officially opening on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The musical features a book by Marco Pennette and an original score by Julia Mattison & Noel Carey.

The story revolves around Madeline Ashton (played by Megan Hilty), an actress obsessed with youth and beauty, and Helen Sharp (Jennifer Simard), a writer seeking revenge after Madeline steals her fiancé. The plot takes a magical turn with the introduction of Viola Van Horn (Michelle Williams), a mysterious character whose potion brings unexpected consequences for the protagonists.
The production’s creative team includes Tony Award winners Derek McLane (scenic design), Paul Tazewell (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), and Peter Hylenski (sound design). With choreography by Gattelli, music supervision by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, and orchestrations by Doug Besterman, the musical promises a feast for the senses.
“Death Becomes Her” is produced by Universal Theatrical Group (UTG) and is based on the cult classic film starring Meryl Streep, Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis. The Broadway production follows a successful pre-Broadway run in Chicago, where audiences have been enthralled by the performances and production quality.
