Simone Biles is Taking Her Gymnastic Talents to Netflix in New Series ‘Simone Biles: Rising’ Ahead of Paris 2024 Olympics

Netflix and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are joining forces to bring viewers an athletic-filled lineup of sports docuseries, with one of the highlights being ‘Simone Biles: Rising.’ This series will delve into Biles’ journey as she prepares to make her return to the Olympic stage in Paris 2024 after stepping back from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to prioritize her mental health.

In ‘Simone Biles: Rising,’ audiences will get an intimate look at Biles’ rigorous training regimen and her personal struggles, including her mental health challenges. The series, consisting of four 45-minute episodes, is set to premiere part one in July, just ahead of the Paris Games. Kate Walsh will be at the helm as director, with an executive production team including Gotham Chopra, Ameeth Sankaran, Giselle Parets, and Janey Miller, in collaboration with Religion of Sports and the Olympic Channel.

Apart from Biles’ inspiring story, Netflix is also rolling out two other series tied to the upcoming Olympic Games: ‘Olympic Men’s Basketball’ and ‘Sprint.’

‘Olympic Men’s Basketball’ will explore the intense competition and narratives surrounding medal contenders and rising stars in men’s basketball, slated to debut in early 2025. Additionally, ‘Sprint’ will showcase top sprinters like Sha’Carri Richardson, Noah Lyles, and Shericka Jackson, with Season 1 premiering in July and Season 2 following their journey to the 2024 Olympics.

These collaborations between Netflix and the IOC aim to bring the excitement and drama of Olympic sports directly to viewers worldwide. Gabe Spiter, Netflix’s vice president of nonfiction sports, expressed excitement about these upcoming releases, highlighting the power of storytelling in connecting fans to the Olympic experience.

Alongside the sports series, Netflix is also diving into the world of football with a docuseries focused on Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. This series promises never-before-seen footage and interviews, offering insights into Jones’ role in shaping the iconic NFL franchise.
