Mo McRae Joins Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and More in Apple TV+ Thriller ‘Lucky’

Mo McRae is the latest addition to the Apple TV+ limited series Lucky, joining an already stacked cast that includes Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Anya Taylor-Joy, Annette Bening, Timothy Olyphant, and Drew Starkey. Emmy nominee Clifton Collins Jr. has also signed on for the upcoming thriller, which is currently filming in Los Angeles.

Lucky is based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, a Reese’s Book Club pick, and follows a young woman (Taylor-Joy) who left behind a life of crime years ago. But when circumstances force her to confront her past one last time, she has to tap into her old instincts to survive. Ellis-Taylor, fresh off her Academy Award and Emmy-nominated performances, will take on the role of Agent Billie Rand in Lucky, Olyphant will play John, Lucky’s father,

The series comes from Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper, who serves as co-showrunner with Cassie Pappas (Silo, Griselda). Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter executive produce for Hello Sunshine, alongside Taylor-Joy through her production banner, Ladykiller. Jonathan Van Tulleken (Shōgun, Trust) is directing several episodes, including the pilot.

McRae has been making moves both in front of and behind the camera. His acting credits include Big Little Lies, The Flight Attendant, Empire, and Den of Thieves. On the directing side, he’s helmed episodes of All Rise, East New York, and The Cleaning Lady, with multiple projects in development under his Scalable Content banner.

No release date yet, but with this cast and creative team, Lucky is shaping up to be one to watch.
