Get a First Look at Giancarlo Esposito, Cynthia Erivo, Method Man and More in ‘Poker Face’ Season 2 Teaser

Charlie Cale is back on the road, and trouble is right on her heels. Peacock just dropped the first teaser for Poker Face season 2, giving a glimpse of Giancarlo Esposito, Cynthia Erivo, Method Man, John Mulaney, Awkwafina, and more stepping into the mystery-of-the-week madness.

Peacock’s critically acclaimed whodunit series is gearing up for its highly anticipated return, and the wait won’t be long—season 2 officially premieres May 8 with a three-episode debut, followed by weekly episodes every Thursday.

Created by Rian Johnson (Knives Out, Glass Onion), Poker Face follows Charlie Cale (Lyonne), a human lie detector with a habit of stumbling into murder investigations. With her uncanny ability to sniff out deception—and her trusty Plymouth Barracuda—Charlie road-trips across the country, getting tangled up in crimes she just has to solve. Think Columbo meets The Rockford Files, but with Lyonne’s signature wit and a modern twist.

Season 1 left off with Charlie choosing life on the run after taking down casino fixer Cliff (Benjamin Bratt). But escaping trouble? Not exactly her strong suit. This season, she’ll be crossing paths with minor league baseball players, funeral home directors, big-box retailers, and even making a pit stop at a grade school talent show.

Here’s the real kicker: Rhea Perlman’s Beatrix Hasp is officially the “big bad” of season 2, pulling the strings from the shadows. After only a voice cameo in season 1, she’s stepping into the spotlight—and according to the show’s casting director, “I have a feeling Rhea’s character is going to be really terrifying.”

A Guest Cast That’s Beyond Stacked

If you thought season 1 had a star-studded lineup, season 2 is coming in even hotter. Here’s the full, impressive roster of guest stars joining Poker Face:

Johnson and Lyonne are leaning into ‘70s American cinema for season 2, drawing inspiration from Robert Altman, Bob Rafelson, and Peter Bogdanovich—while still channeling the classic case-of-the-week energy of Columbo, The Rockford Files, and Quantum Leap.

Season 1 was a breakout hit for Peacock, earning four Emmy nominations and securing the streamer’s first Emmy win (for Judith Light’s guest performance). Now, with Tony Tost (The Terror, Longmire) stepping in as showrunner, season 2 is upping the ante with even wilder cases, higher-profile guest stars, and twists you won’t see coming.

With Lyonne leading the charge both behind and in front of the camera, Poker Face season 2 is set to be bigger, bolder, and full of surprises. Buckle up—Charlie Cale is back, and she’s got trouble riding shotgun.

Poker Face season 2 premieres May 8 on Peacock.
