Hulu’s upcoming horror film Mr. Crocket is set to deliver spine-chilling thrills this Halloween season, starring Jerrika Hinton (Man in Full), Elvis Nolasco (Godfather of Harlem), Ayden Gavin (Big George Foreman), Kristolyn Lloyd (Blue Bloods), and Alex Akpobome (Industry). The movie premieres on October 11, 2024, and takes viewers back to the early ’90s in a terrifying tale about a sinister children’s show host who preys on young children.
The recently released trailer offers a glimpse of this eerie nostalgia, complete with a vintage TV show intro that quickly descends into horror.
Set in 1993, the film follows a mother’s desperate attempt to save her son after he’s abducted by the demonic Mr. Crocket (Nolasco), a once-beloved children’s show host who mysteriously emerges from television sets to kidnap children and brutally slay their parents. As the mother embarks on a dangerous quest to rescue her son, the story blends horror, suspense, and emotional intensity.
Directed by Brandon Espy, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Carl Reid, Mr. Crocket is based on Espy’s 2022 short film of the same name, which was part of Hulu’s Bite Size Halloween anthology.
Produced by WorthenBrooks, previously known as 20th Digital Studio, the film marks a key entry in Hulu Originals’ horror slate. Lead producers include David Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, Jenna Cavelle, and Carl Reid, with Miles Alva serving as executive producer.
Mr. Crocket is set to make its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, where it has already garnered attention for its terrifying blend of horror set pieces reminiscent of Nightmare on Elm Street and the gritty tone of Tales from the Hood. Elvis Nolasco’s portrayal of Mr. Crocket has been hailed for seamlessly switching between the charming host and sociopathic murderer, drawing comparisons to horror icons like Freddy Krueger with a sinister Mr. Rogers twist.
Fans of nostalgic horror and unsettling TV figures won’t want to miss this chilling experience when Mr. Crocket arrives on Hulu.
