Exciting news for fans of The Young and the Restless! Amy Lewis, a character with deep ties to Genoa City’s past, is set to make her return after more than three decades away. Valarie Pettiford will step into the role, originally portrayed by Stephanie E. Williams, bringing the beloved character back to life.
Amy Lewis first appeared in 1983 and She worked as a secretary for Paul Williams and Andy Richards at their private investigator agency, becoming more than just a co-worker. Amy was a close friend of Genoa City’s younger crowd, including Danny Romalotti, Lauren Fenmore, and Traci Abbott. Fans will remember the group joining Danny on stage during his musical tours.
Amy’s storylines went beyond her professional role. She became romantically involved with Nathan Hastings Sr., Nate Hastings’ father, and played a pivotal part in his life by teaching him to read and write after discovering he was illiterate. Amy’s departure in 1988 was prompted by her need to take care of her ailing father, and she left Genoa City, leaving behind many friends.
While the details of Amy’s storyline are being kept tightly under wraps, Pettiford’s first appearance is slated for Tuesday, October 29.
This marks Pettiford’s first return to daytime soaps since her role as Sheila Price on One Life to Live from 1990 to 1994. Outside of her soap roles, Pettiford is currently a series regular on BET+’s The Family Business and will star in the upcoming holiday movie Too Many Christmases.
