NBC Renews ‘The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins’ for Season 2 Following Breakout Debut

NBC isn’t fumbling one of its biggest comedy wins of the season.

The network has officially renewed The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, led by Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, for a second season. The early pickup comes just days ahead of NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, where the network will unveil its 2026–27 slate.

The renewal follows a strong debut for the freshman comedy, which premiered in January after NFL playoff coverage and quickly established itself as a ratings force. The pilot has since amassed more than 14 million viewers across platforms, making it the most-watched comedy telecast of the 2025–26 season. While subsequent episodes didn’t replicate that initial surge, the series maintained enough momentum to secure another chapter. Season 2 is expected to consist of 10 episodes.

Created by 30 Rock alums Robert Carlock and Sam Means, the series reunites them with Morgan in a comedy that blends satire with redemption storytelling. Tina Fey also serves as an executive producer, further reinforcing the show’s comedic pedigree.

The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins follows a disgraced former football star attempting to rebuild his public image after a gambling scandal derailed his career. In a last-ditch effort to control his narrative, he enlists an eccentric documentary filmmaker, played by Radcliffe, to chronicle his comeback. What unfolds is a mockumentary-style exploration of fame, accountability, and reinvention.

The ensemble cast includes Erika Alexander as Monica, Reggie’s ex-wife and business manager; Bobby Moynihan as his loyal but chaotic friend Rusty; Precious Way as his fiancée Brina; and Jalyn Hall as his son Carmelo. The first season also featured a slate of notable guest appearances, including Megan Thee Stallion, Ronny Chieng, Heidi Gardner, Anna Camp, and Craig Robinson.

Beyond its ratings, part of the show’s appeal lies in its character dynamics—particularly the layered, often humorous relationships surrounding Reggie, including the grounded co-parenting dynamic with Monica and the unexpected bond between Monica and Brina. The series also leans into the comedic contrast between Morgan’s larger-than-life persona and Radcliffe’s more reserved, observational presence.

With Reggie Dinkins secured for another season, NBC has only a handful of renewal decisions left to make as it finalizes its upcoming schedule. But one thing is clear: when it comes to this comedy, the network is betting on a continued rise.
