While most holiday films bring festive cheer, Netflix is raising the tension this season with Carry-On, a new thriller where the stakes couldn’t be higher for lead actor Taron Egerton. Set to premiere on December 13, the film’s newly released teaser trailer gives audiences a glimpse into a suspenseful narrative centered on an airport crisis during Christmas.
Carry-On stars Egerton (Rocketman, Kingsman) as Ethan Kopek, a TSA agent thrust into a dangerous situation when a mysterious traveler blackmails him. Tasked with letting a potentially deadly package pass through security on Christmas Eve, Kopek finds himself racing against time to prevent catastrophe, all while under immense pressure to protect someone he loves.
The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall), Sinqua Walls (White Men Can’t Jump), Curtiss Cook (The Chi), and Jason Bateman (Ozark). Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his pulse-pounding action films like Non-Stop, Carry-On promises edge-of-your-seat suspense.
The trailer opens ominously, reminding viewers that millions of travelers fly safely each holiday season—until now. As Kopek faces an impossible dilemma, the trailer cuts to heart-pounding moments, with action sequences both inside the airport and beyond, including an intense combat scene in a moving vehicle. Egerton’s character is shown receiving instructions through an earpiece, forced to act against his will under the threat of harm to someone close to him.
The screenplay for Carry-On was written by T.J. Fixman (Ratchet & Clank) and Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049), with Dylan Clark producing. This project also marks the first collaboration between Netflix and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners, following the announcement of their partnership in 2021.
Carry-On is set to be a gripping holiday thriller, offering a break from the usual feel-good films of the season. Make sure to check out the trailer and mark your calendars for December 13, when the movie lands on Netflix.
