Netflix is placing its chips on Bet once again.
The streamer has officially renewed the teen drama for a second season, following a strong global debut that kept the show in Netflix’s Top 10 English-language series for three consecutive weeks.
Created by Simon Barry and based on the hit Japanese manga Kakegurui, Bet follows Yumeko (played by Star Trek: Section 31’s Miku Martineau), a mysterious transfer student with a gift for high-stakes gambling and a secret agenda. She enters the elite world of St. Dominic’s, a private boarding school where underground gambling determines who rises to the top—and who’s left in the dust.
The renewal news comes with confirmation that Season 2 will consist of 10 half-hour episodes, bringing more high-stakes drama, psychological mind games, and, in the words of Barry himself, “general madness.”
“I’m extremely happy for our amazing Bet fans from all over the world, who get to enjoy another season,” said Barry in a statement. “And for this incredible cast and crew to return to St. Dominic’s for more gambling and general madness.”
In addition to Martineau, the ensemble includes Ayo Solanke as Ryan, Eve Edwards (The Good Doctor) as Mary, Clara Alexandrova (A Million Little Things) as Kira, Hunter Cardinal as Michael, Anwen O’Driscoll (Burden of Truth) as Riri, Aviva Mongillo (Workin’ Moms) as Dori, Laura Afelskie (Painkiller) as Runa, Dorian Giordano (Avatar: The Last Airbender) as Chad, Emma Elle Paterson as Blake, Ryan Sutherland as Suki, and Peter Outerbridge.
The series blends teen drama with psychological thriller, drawing comparisons to Gossip Girl with a dangerous twist. Yumeko’s arrival doesn’t just shake up the school’s power dynamics—it threatens to unravel the entire institution.
The source material, Kakegurui (which translates to “compulsive gambler”), has been a global phenomenon since its 2014 debut. Created by writer Homura Kawamoto and illustrator Tōru Naomura, the manga has spanned 18 volumes and inspired anime adaptations, a live-action Japanese series, and now this English-language version with a diverse, global cast.
Bet is produced by Boat Rocker. Executive producers include Simon Barry, Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell.
No word yet on a premiere date for Season 2, but viewers can expect another wild ride when Bet returns to Netflix.
