Netflix Renews 8 Series Including ‘Survival of the Thickest,’ ‘The Diplomat’ and More

Netflix came in swinging at its 2025 Upfronts, dropping a wave of renewal news and surprise announcements that reminded us why they still run the streaming game. From fan-favorite dramas to fresh young adult hits, the streamer confirmed that stories centered on love, identity, politics, and self-discovery aren’t going anywhere. Whether it’s the return of the Bridgerton siblings or Mara Brock Akil’s Forever earning a swift renewal, Netflix is betting big on character-driven series with heart—and viewers are showing up for it.

‘Bridgerton’ Secures Seasons 5 and 6, Season 4 Set for 2026

Netflix isn’t closing the book on the Bridgerton saga anytime soon. In true Regency fashion, Lady Whistledown herself confirmed that the romantic juggernaut will continue through Seasons 5 and 6. A new clip from Season 4 also dropped during the presentation, teasing the show’s return in 2026.

“Do celebrate accordingly,” reads the Whistledown note. Consider it done.

‘Forever’ Gets a Swift Season 2 Renewal

Just one week after its debut, Forever—Mara Brock Akil’s reimagining of Judy Blume’s coming-of-age novel—has been renewed for Season 2. Starring Michael Cooper Jr. and Lovie Simone, the series explores Black teenage love and identity in 2018 Los Angeles.

In a statement, Akil said:

“This show was never just about first love—it was about being seen. About letting teenagers be soft, complicated, and real… Season two is our love letter back to the people who said, ‘Yes, this is for me.’”

‘Survival of the Thickest’ Ending with Season 3

Michelle Buteau’s heartfelt and hilarious Survival of the Thickest will wrap with its upcoming third season. Buteau will return for one final ride as Mavis Beaumont, bringing the journey to a close while celebrating the joyful chaos of living unapologetically.

‘The Diplomat’ Gets Fourth Season Ahead of Season 3 Premiere

The Keri Russell-led political thriller The Diplomat has officially been renewed for Season 4—before Season 3 has even premiered. The third season drops this fall, continuing the high-stakes tension following Ambassador Kate Wyler’s political chess moves.

‘The Four Seasons’ Returns for Another Vacation

Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield are packing their bags again. The Four Seasons, which just premiered, will return for Season 2 with eight new episodes. The creators joked, “We are so grateful that audiences worldwide share our love of cozy sweaters, drinks by the ocean, and picking fights in a hot tub.”

More Coming in 2026

  • My Life With the Walter Boys will officially be back for Season 3 in 2026, following confirmation that the show had been in early development for a while.
  • Two unscripted favorites are also sticking around: Love on the Spectrum will return for Season 4, and Million Dollar Secret will be back for a second season.

Not (Yet) Mentioned: ‘Wednesday’ and ‘One Piece’

While not formally announced at the Upfronts, both Wednesday and One Piece are widely expected to return. Netflix didn’t drop any updates this round—but fans are hopeful more news is on the way.
