Paramount+ has set a June 24 premiere date for Wild Cherry, the acclaimed BBC thriller from BAFTA-winning creator Nicole Lecky, and released the first trailer ahead of its stateside debut. All six episodes will be available to stream on launch day in the U.S., Canada, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and Latin America.
Carmen Ejogo stars as Lorna, a self-made businesswoman living in an exclusive enclave alongside her best friend Juliet, played by Eve Best. Their seemingly perfect lives unravel when their daughters, who are also close friends, become implicated in a shocking scandal at their elite private school. As toxic secrets ripple through the community and the two women are forced to take sides, cracks form in the idyllic facade they have built around themselves.
Lecky not only created and wrote Wild Cherry but also executive produces and stars in it. The series is directed by Toby MacDonald, whose credits include Extraordinary and Fifteen-Love, and produced by Firebird Pictures, one of BBC Studios’ owned production labels. Additional executive producers include Elizabeth Kilgarriff, Craig Holleworth, Lisa Walters and Lucy Richer. Ado Yoshizaki Cassuto serves as producer. BBC Studios is handling global sales.
The ensemble cast includes Imogen Faires, Amelia May, Sophie Winkleman, Daniel Lapaine, Hayat Kamille, Isabelle Allen, James Murray, Jason York, Katarina Cas, Nathaniel Martello-White, Sonita Henry, Tara Webb, Will Bagnall and Hugh Quarshie.
Wild Cherry originally premiered on BBC iPlayer and BBC One before crossing the Atlantic. The series joins Paramount+’s growing international acquisitions slate and arrives on the streamer June 24.
