Phoebe Robinson, the multifaceted actress, producer, and stand-up comic known for the HBO series “2 Dope Queens,” has inked a two-year first-look deal with Sony Pictures Television. Under this agreement, Robinson will develop and produce scripted series for cable and streaming platforms through her production company, Tiny Reparations.

Colin Davis, Sony Pictures Television’s EVP of Comedy Development, praised Robinson’s talent in a statement to Deadline, saying, “Phoebe can truly do it all. She is an authentic, funny, and brilliant storyteller who brings a freshness and vision to anything she touches. We are proud to partner with her and champion her unique voice.”

Expressing her excitement, Robinson added, “Ooh, chile, there are few things better than getting a new home – I’m registered at CB2, so somebody get me a nice duvet – and I’m thrilled that Tiny Reparations is joining the Sony family. They’re making me feel all cute and special, but more importantly, they’re doing dope things and I can’t wait for us to collab on making TV dreams come true for myself and others!”

Robinson co-created and co-starred in “2 Dope Queens” alongside Jessica Williams, an acclaimed HBO comedy series that aired for two seasons beginning in February 2018. The talk show format allowed the duo to explore topics like sex, romance, race, hair, living in New York, and Billy Joel, with guests such as Jon Hamm, Nick Kroll, LeVar Burton, Marc Maron, Michelle Buteau, and Michelle Obama.

In addition to her work on “2 Dope Queens,” Robinson created and starred in “Everything’s Trash,” a Freeform comedy based on her 2018 essay collection “Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay.” Despite being Freeform’s lowest-rated original series in linear ratings, Robinson’s company, Tiny Reparations, also produced her Max stand-up special “Sorry, Harriet Tubman.”

Robinson, a New York Times bestselling author, has published essay collections including “You Can’t Touch My Hair” and “Please Don’t Sit on My Bed in Your Outside Clothes.” In 2020, she launched Tiny Reparations Books.

“Everything’s Trash” followed the story of Phoebe (Robinson), a 30-something podcast star navigating her messy life and relying on her friends and close-knit family to help her figure out adulthood, especially when her older brother Jayden becomes a leading political candidate. The series also starred Jordan Carlos, Toccarra Cash, Nneka Okafor, and Moses Storm and was produced by ABC Signature with Jonathan Groff and Chioke Nassor serving as executive producers. Despite its cancellation after one season, Robinson’s future in television production looks promising with her new deal at Sony Pictures Television.
