Reacher isn’t going anywhere. Prime Video has ordered a sixth season of the Alan Ritchson series, locking it in before Season 5 has even premiered. With the pickup, the show becomes Prime Video’s second-longest-running scripted series, trailing only Bosch and tied with Invincible, which has also been renewed through a sixth season.
Season 4 wrapped its run on September 16, and the numbers back up the early renewal. Amazon says the season pulled in 66 million viewers worldwide in its first 28 days, enough to land it among the five most-watched seasons of any original series in Prime Video’s history. Add in seasons two and three, and Reacher‘s three returning seasons are the most-watched returning seasons the platform has ever had.
Season 4 adapted Lee Child’s novel Gone Tomorrow, following Reacher as a chance run-in with a stranger on a subway drags him into a new conspiracy. The season starred Ritchson alongside Sydelle Noel, Chris Marquette, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan and Kathleen Robertson.
Season 5 is already filming in Toronto and will adapt Make Me, the 20th book in Child’s series. Amazon hasn’t set a premiere date yet, though it’s expected to land sometime in late 2027.
The show has also become one of Prime Video’s biggest global exports. Amazon reports that 58% of its audience now comes from outside the U.S., with the U.K., Germany and Brazil leading the way. Since the series debuted in 2022, it’s reached more than 200 million viewers total. A spinoff, Neagley, starring Maria Sten, has already released its first season.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has jumped ahead of schedule for Reacher. Season 3 was ordered two weeks before Season 2 even premiered back in December 2023, so getting a Season 6 green light before Season 5 airs fits a pattern.
As for Season 6, the source material is still unannounced. Ritchson has made his preference known, though. Asked about it on Threads, he named Die Trying, the second book in the series, as his favorite: “Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”
Nick Santora writes and showruns the series, serving as executive producer alongside Lee Child, Ritchson, Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, Lisa Kussner, Sam Hill, Amy Pocha and Seth Cohen. Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid oversee the series for Paramount Television Studios. Paramount TV Studios and Amazon MGM Studios produce.
The franchise is expanding, too. Neagley, a spinoff following Frances Neagley and starring Maria Sten, released its first season this year, giving Amazon a second show to build out the Reacher universe alongside the flagship series.
