The cast of Amazon MGM Studios’ courtroom comedy Judgment Day just got even deeper.
Rachel Hilson and Tyler Lofton are officially joining Regina Hall, Will Ferrell, and Zac Efron in the upcoming film, which has circled back to its original title after a few back-and-forths. (Judgment Day is officially back on the board.)
The movie, directed by Nicholas Stoller, follows a young convict (played by Efron) who, fresh out of prison, hijacks a reality TV courtroom, blaming the over-the-top, megalomaniac TV judge (Ferrell) for a ruling he believes destroyed his life. It’s part hostage situation, part chaos, and 100% satire.
Hilson and Lofton are they’re joining a stacked ensemble that already includes Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jimmy Tatro, Michael Peña, Fortune Feimster, Billy Eichner, Bobby Cannavale, and newly announced cast members Bill Camp (Zero Day) and Rory Scovel (You’re Cordially Invited). The rest of the cast character details are being kept under wraps for now
Production on Judgment Day marks another collaboration between Stoller and Ferrell, following their recent Prime Video comedy You’re Cordially Invited with Reese Witherspoon. Stoller is also producing through his Stoller Global Solutions banner, alongside Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum, and Alex Brown for Gloria Sanchez Productions.
Meanwhile, both Hilson and Lofton are rising stars carving out strong lanes in Hollywood. Up next, Hilson will star in in HBO/Max’s Duster and Lofton has #WorstChristmasEver on his list.
As for Regina Hall, she continues her heavy run. She’s starring in Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and Teyana Taylor, and she’s recently starred in Searchlight Pictures’ rock opera O’Dessa.
No release date yet for Judgment Day, but when it drops, this cast is locked and loaded.
