Issa Rae’s HBO Max comedy, tentatively titled Rap Shit, has added three to its cast.
Crooked Media Podcast Keep It’s writer Aida Osman, rapper KaMillion, and comedian Jonica Booth have been cast as the leads of Rap Sh*t (WT).
The HBO Max’s half-hour comedy series from Insecure co-creator Rae and her Hoorae Productions. Rae will write the series pilot and Sadé Clacken Joseph is attached to direct it.

The eight-episode series will follow two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), who reunite to form a rap group.
Osman’s Shawna is an aspiring rapper that hasn’t seen success and continues to work her day job at a touristy hotel. KaMillion will play Mia is a makeup artist and a single mother to a four-year-old daughter and works three jobs. Booth is cast as Chastity, a “sex work manager” who refers to herself as the “Duke of Miami.”

Does Rap Shit sound familiar? We don’t know if this is their story but we are getting City Girl vibes. Either way the Hip hop duo, City Girls, are attached serve as co-executive producers. Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE will also executive produce.
Insecure and Central Park alum Syreeta Singleton will serve as the showrunner. Rae and Singleton will also executive producer alongside HOORAE’s Montrel McKay, Jonathan Berry, and 3 Arts’ Dave Becky.
In addition to starring, Osman will also serves as executive story editor. Rae’s audio content company Raedio will handle music supervision for the series.
Production will begin this summer for the series.
