Raven-Symoné, known for her longstanding relationship with Disney, is set to expand her collaboration with the entertainment giant through a new multi-year overall deal at Disney Branded Television. This deal will see her take on various roles including producer, director, and developer across both linear and streaming platforms, with a particular focus on multi-cam comedies.
One of the first projects under this agreement is the executive production and direction of the sitcom “Alice in the Palace,” which has received a pilot order. This show marks a spinoff from Raven-Symoné’s previous Disney Channel multi-camera comedy series “Raven’s Home,” which concluded its successful run with Season 6 in September 2023 and will not return for a seventh season.
“Alice in the Palace” explores the story of Alice (played by Mykal-Michelle Harris), Raven’s young cousin, who returns to England and reunites with Duchess Clementine (also portrayed by Harris), a young royal bearing a striking resemblance to her. The show delves into their experiences as they navigate each other’s worlds, blending fun “normal” life with the more refined “regal” life.
Disney Branded Television’s strategy, as demonstrated by this new collaboration, involves creating a fresh lineup of multi-camera sitcoms for Disney Channel. This approach has seen the executive team leaning into classic Disney Channel IP, with spinoffs and follow-ups to beloved series.
Ayo Davis, President of Disney Branded Television, praised Raven-Symoné’s contributions, stating, “Raven is a true trailblazer who constantly pushes creative boundaries in acting, producing, and directing.” Davis expressed delight in extending their partnership and highlighted the significance of “Alice in the Palace” as a continuation of the legacy built by “Raven’s Home.”
Raven-Symoné’s career with Disney has spanned multiple successes, from her teen sitcom “That’s So Raven” to executive producing and starring in Disney Channel original movies like “The Cheetah Girls” franchise. She has also made her mark on Broadway and in feature films, showcasing her versatility across various mediums.
Reflecting on her journey with Disney, Raven-Symoné shared, “Disney Channel has been the canvas for my creative expressions since I was 15 years old. After years of telling stories filled with heart, laughter, and togetherness, I’m excited to embark on the next chapter of this creative journey alongside my Disney family.”
Raven-Symoné’s achievements have earned her recognition from prestigious awards including the NAACP Image Awards, Daytime Emmy Awards, and Teen Choice Awards, among others. Her continued collaboration with Disney promises more innovative and entertaining content for audiences to look forward to in the coming years.
