The Daily Wire has released the first trailer for Run Hide Fight: Infidels, a follow-up to its 2020 action thriller Run Hide Fight, and the film is already generating significant controversy. Jonathan Majors stars in the project, which is set to debut September 16 on the platform.
Directed by Kyle Rankin, the film follows a Delta Force veteran, a security guard and a group of students who band together after a college campus is seized. The film’s logline and trailer have drawn significant criticism, with the LA Times describing the premise as “xenophobic and Islamophobic” and accusing it of “rehashing 40-year-old tropes” around Muslims and Sharia law. The minute-long teaser opens with footage from the September 11 attacks and cuts through images of 2024 campus protests, drawing a line between the two that critics have found deeply irresponsible.
The cast includes Jonathan Majors, JC Kilcoyne, Stephen Hailo, Tyler Aser as Lizzy Dupree, James Bingham as P.J., Sharon Johal, Charlotte Delaney Riggs as Farrah Abel, David Lucas, Chase Ramsey as Hermann and Jason Gray-Stanford.
The controversy around the film’s messaging is separate from the ongoing conversation around Majors, who was dropped from numerous Hollywood projects following a 2023 domestic violence conviction. The Daily Wire has positioned itself as an alternative pipeline for talent outside of traditional Hollywood, having previously produced films with Armie Hammer and Gina Carano after her exit from The Mandalorian.
Producer Dallas Sonnier confirmed that Majors loved the script and will do press for the film. The production was also not without turbulence on set, with Majors and co-star JC Kilcoyne falling through an unsecured window during filming, intensifying an existing labor strike by unionized crew members over safety concerns. Sonnier responded to the labor allegations by stating his company does not negotiate with, in his words, “communists.”
Majors also has other projects in the works, including the supernatural revenge thriller Merciless from director Martin Villeneuve and Dinner at Nick’s, which was announced at Cannes.
Run Hide Fight: Infidels debuts September 16 exclusively on The Daily Wire.
