Samira Wiley, Galen J. Williams and Nicco Annan are among the cast of The Let Go, a music-driven indie drama that has wrapped production in Colorado. Written and directed by Kristen Wolf in her feature directorial debut, the film also stars Mileiah Vega, Sophia Bush, Midori Francis, Brandon Flynn and Tovah Feldshuh.
The film follows Chick, played by Wiley, a resilient single mother determined to help her musically gifted 11-year-old daughter Lyric, played by Vega, pursue her big dream. When an unexpected obstacle threatens everything they have worked toward, Chick must confront the secret of her own long-buried gift.
Wiley is best known for her starring roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Orange Is the New Black, with additional credits including Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit and FX’s You’re the Worst. Williams is known for One of Them Days and Annan for P-Valley. Bush is known for One Tree Hill, Francis for Grey’s Anatomy, Flynn for 13 Reasons Why and Feldshuh, a multiple Emmy and Tony Award nominee, for Nobody Wants This.
Wolf’s career spans film, literature and theater. Her shorts have won multiple awards and her producing credits include the GLAAD Award-winning documentary Beyond the Aggressives. She is also the author of two critically acclaimed novels and served as an investor on Michael R. Jackson’s Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning Broadway musical A Strange Loop.
The film is produced by Rachel Gould and Adriana Rotaru under Soto Productions, with casting by Taylor Williams and Destiny Lilly.
